Dress Code For Doctors

A new dress code for health care workers may cut down the spread of germs.

The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology has released new guidelines for hospital clothing for doctors, nurses and other hospital workers that specifies short sleeves, bare hands & forearms, and white coats that are cleaned at least once a week if not more, to keep from spreading germs between patients.

The group also says neckties aren't a good idea, and workers should avoid wearing rings and watches. It says it's not sure about name tags, necklaces and cell phones, but when in doubt, it’s best to clean them or get rid of them.
